The Lakewood Ranch (FL) product received an early offer from the University of Mississippi. The Rebels played at Florida last Saturday so the 6' 0", 175 pound receiver decided to see what they were all about. What were his thoughts?
"It was a good game," added Marcus McNeal. "Ole Miss made
a big play with the blocked extra point and came out with the win."
Was
the Bradenton native at the game to scout Florida or Ole Miss?
"I
was there to watch Ole Miss."
What did Marcus want to learn about
Ole Miss?
"I wanted to see the type of offense they run. I was looking
at their players. I wanted to see how they played as a team. I saw that they never
gave up. That is what I liked about Ole Miss. They never give up."
What
about the offense?
"I like their offense. They use the spread set,
power formation, Rebel Wild set, just a lot of different formations. It is very
flexible. But what I noticed is that they spread the ball around to all of their
playmakers. They let everyone get involved in their offense. That is what impressed
me the most with their offense."
When was the last time Marcus heard
from the Ole Miss staff?
"A couple weeks back. I have spoken to about
three different coaches in the past. Coach Dickerson called me last though."
Who
are the other schools involved in McNeal's recruitment?
"Louisville.
I plan on taking an official visit there in two weeks."
What kind
of relationship does Marcus have with the Louisville staff?
"I guess
you could say that I have a real good relationship. One of my coaches went to
school at Louisville, so he tells me good things about it."
What stands
out about the Cards?
"I have a brother who goes to school there. He
does not play sports or anything. He just goes to school there."
What
stands out about the Rebels?
"I liked Ole Miss when I was younger.
I am not from Mississippi or anything, but I grew up watching them a lot on tv.
I always liked how they played."
Anymore schools heavily involved?
"West
Virginia has been talking good. They called me last week. They have been keeping
in touch."
What are their positives?
"I just like their
offense. Basically, I can come in there and be a big part of their offense if
I go there."
