Encino (Calif.) Crespi receiver/safety Kevin Cummings, one of the more underrated players in the Southland, finally landed his first offer, from an instate program...

Encino (Calif.) Crespi receiver/safety Kevin Cummings, who was one of the top unoffered players in California, is no longer in that group.

That's because a Mountain West program came forward with an offer to Cummings.

"San Diego State offered me on Saturday," said Cummings.

The Aztecs have been recruiting Cummings since the spring, and he camped there and attended their Junior Day.

Interestingly enough, the Aztecs like him in the secondary, where he's shined for the Celts this year.

"They offered me as a safety," said Cummings. "But I've been talking to the receivers coach a lot so we'll see."

For Cummings, it's a huge relief of what had gotten to be a stressful time.

"I'm really stoked, it's a relief," said Cummings. "I've been ballin' this year so I'm happy it's paying off."
