Toney Williams (Tennessee) and Jahron Brown (Arkansas) put on a show Friday night. It was a battle of relatively obscure schools in the annals of Georgia High School football as East Paulding traveled to Alpharetta to take on a Milton team that hadn't won a playoff game in 53 years. But two of the best big running backs in the country were matched up as Toney Williams (6-3/240) led his Milton team against Jahron Brown (5-11/230) and East Paulding. Williams is committed to Tennessee, and Brown is committed to Arkansas. Their first meeting against one another is likely not to be their last, but it may end up being their most memorable. The final score read 43-41 in triple overtime in favor of Brown's East Paulding Raiders, and both big name backs had huge nights. Williams finished with 246 yards and 5 touchdowns. Brown's big night included the game winning touchdown as well as pulling double duty on defense. Toney Williams is an absolute phenom of an athlete. a player of his size just isn't supposed to do what he can do. He has terrific feet and can make players miss. He is patient with his blockers and doesn't force contact, although he certainly doesn't mind running people over.  His signature play in the game wasn't one of his 5 touchdowns (OK, I have to admit, seeing him go over the top on the goalline was pretty special), but a sweep around right end where he hurdled a would be tackler and continued down the field. He runs a little too upright, even for his 6-3 frame, and it's hard to picture a player that's already as big as he is remaining at running back in college, but the more I watched him, the more it seemed absurd to NOT have the ball in his hands in college. #5 RB Toney Williams Watch Video Jahron Brown started the season as a mystery to me. He was a 220 pound running back in a fullback's body. He had quick feet, balance, vision, moves, and enough speed to take it the distance after sloughing off tacklers. So why did it take him to the middle of the season to get a big offer?  I think teams may have wanted to see him play fullback and how he'd block and handle the transition. He played nearly the entire game against Milton with his hand down in the fullback position.  He also lined up at some tailback, some linebacker, and some defensive end. He was unselfish with his blocks, and as had always been the case, he does major damage with the ball in his hands. He also made a terrific catch on a wheel route up the left sideline. The man is a weapon on the football field, and Arkansas has a steal. #32 FB/LB/DE Jahron Brown Watch Video It's cliché to say it, but it's a shame that someone had to lose this game.
