The 5' 11", 185 pound star safety/receiver from Gulliver Prep had
run into some back problems towards the middle of his season. Kellam missed the
last three games of the regular season and the opener of the playoffs due to the
sore back. Artice thought it was due to back spasms, but there was growing concern
that it could be more serious.
This injury was also holding up his commitment
to the Rebels, as he was told by Ole Miss that they needed to get the results
back before making a final decision. Those results were returned to him last week
and the news was good.
"It was just like what the doctors expected,"
added Artice
Kellam. "It was just some back spasms. I was cleared to play,
and I played in our last game. We won. We are playing in the championship game
Saturday."
The news continued to get better for Scout.com's #121 rated
safety.
"I spoke with the Ole Miss coaches, and everything is good.
They have accepted my commitment, so it's all good now. I am a Rebel. I already called South Carolina and South Florida to let them know I am going to Ole Miss. Me and Frank
Crawford will be over there in January. Hopefully, we are going to continue our
career together at Ole Miss. It looks good with him too."
Artice marks
Ole Miss' 20th public commitment.
