The talented safety prospect out of Gulliver Prep (FL) knew he had found
a home after he went through an injury.
"The other schools were not
recruiting me the same way they were before I got injured," added Frank Crawford.
"It was just the little things that I could tell. Sometimes they might not
call me that week or mail me everyday like they had been, but Ole Miss always
did. I could just tell that they wanted me as badly as they did before I hurt
my ACL."
The relationship he built with the Ole Miss coaches was the
clincher.
"I have a great relationship with Coaches Vaughn, Beaz,
and Nutt. I just trust what they tell me. That is why I feel like that is where
I need to be."
Frank tore his ACL in the first game of the season
and had surgery in October. He is scheduled to get the OK to start running on
it next month.
"My doctor told me I was ahead of schedule. It feels
really good. I had never been injured before, so I really did not know what to
expect, but I do not have any pain in my knee at all. I used the time off to get
stronger in the weight room. I am up to (measured at 6' 1" at Scout combine)
190 now, so I have put on 15 good pounds."
Scout.com's #53 nationally
rated safety will have his teammate join him at Ole Miss.
"Me and
Artice Kellam said at the beginning of the year that we were going
to go to the same school together. We always talked about it. We went on our visits
together. We went to Minnesota together, and we are going to Ole Miss together
on the (January) 16th. We are very similar. That is why we get a long so well."
Frank
had two interceptions and six tackles in his only game of action this season.
Gulliver Prep made it to the State Championship (Class 2A) game. Last season,
Crawford earned 1st Team All-Dade and 2nd Team All-State after collecting 65 tackles
and 6 int's.
He was offered by South Carolina, Alabama, FSU, Minnesota,
South Florida, FIU, and Purdue before deciding on Ole Miss.
