Scout.com's #4 nationally rated wide receiver was down to Ohio State, Georgia,
Florida, and Tennessee, but another SEC team has entered the race.
"I scheduled an official visit to Ole Miss
for January 16th," added Marlon Brown. "That
is it for me. Ole Miss got my last visit."
The Rebels had been absent from his list of favorites
until the Cotton Bowl.
"I watched that game, and I was just impressed
with their offensive system and QB. They have a
real good quarterback in Jevan Snead, and he has
two more years."
Ole Miss had actually begun to make a move before
the dead period arrived.
"Coach Nutt came by my school, and we just
talked about being a team leader and getting my
degree. We did not even really talk about football.
That was a nice change of pace. That is when I really
started getting interested in Ole Miss."
Marlon's father and grandmother attend every one
of his football and basketball games at Harding
Aca and the proximiity from Oxford to Memphis is
also a positive.
"That has weighed on my mind too. I am very
close with my father and grandmother and Ole Miss
being only an hour away from home would give them
the opporunity to keep coming to my games."
This month will packed full of action for Marlon
as he visits Ole Miss (1/16), Florida (1/24), and
Tennessee (1/31). The 6' 5", 205 pound Memphis
resident has already visited Ohio State and Georgia.
"Everyone always asks me what I like about
each school. I can answer that with one answer.
All of the coaches for each school are down to earth
and honest about everything. That is what stands
out about all of them, really."
Taking that into consideration; what is going to
separate one from the rest of the pack?
"Where ever it feels the most at home. That's
it."
Brown does have one home visit scheduled this week.
"Georgia is coming by Saturday. Nobody
else has been by this week."
The Harding Aca product had the highlight of the
Under Armour All-American game when he took a crossing
route and blew past the would be defenders for a
71 yard TD. "That felt good. I think
there have been some people doubting me because
I play for an academy. Hopefully I can keep proving
them wrong."
Marlon finished his senior season with 19 touchdowns
for a 10-3 team.
Brown reports a 3.2 core GPA and a 21 ACT.
