While Cumberland, Md., may not be Texas, Florida, Western Pennsylvania, Ohio or California, you wouldn’t be able to tell that if you ventured into the city during homecoming week as the fans are as passionate as any in the country. Now those fans get to watch one of their own in Justin Hymes go play football at the collegiate level which puts an entire city behind him.

Allegany High School offensive tackle Justin Hymes gave his verbal commitment to play for the Yale Bulldogs this week, making him the first player out of Cumberland, Md., to go to the big show in quite some time. The 6-foot-5, 270-pound lineman will have the chance to play early in the Ivy Leagues and is excited about the education he will receive.

“I committed to Yale,” Hymes told Scout.com through text message.

We will have more from Hymes when the phone coverage in his area is restored as it is currently down.
