Brent Caprio had an exciting week as he was one of 50 finalists in the Tri-State area for the Jim Henry Award and was also taking an official visit to William & Mary, one of his favorite schools so far in the recruiting process. Being in that situation along was a great experience, but getting the results he did from both was simply awesome.
Mainland Regional quarterback Brent Caprio had already been given his Mini-Maxwell Award and was one of 50 finalists for the Jim Henry Award this weekend. He was also scheduled to take an official visit to William & Mary, a school that he had become very high on. By the end of the weekend he won the Jim Henry Award and was part of the William & Mary program.
“I committed to William & Mary on Sunday,” Caprio said. “When I was down there I got to hang out with Nolan Kearney a lot who is a really nice kid and just really enjoyed it there. The visit was great and I was really impressed with the renovations they did to the facilities.”
“Academics also played a large part in my decision and while I was looking at Ivy League schools as well, I wanted to play at a higher level of football while still getting a comparable education. I like the coaching staff a lot and by the end of the visit I just knew I belonged there.”
As a senior, Caprio completed 140 of 223 passes for 2065 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also carried the ball 159 times for 891 yards and 21 touchdowns. He was named first-team All-League and All-State while also winning the Jim Henry Award from the Maxwell Club.
