Dino Mancinelli and the Connecticut team weren’t given great odds at the New Level Athletics passing tournament, however the signal caller teamed up with Silas Redd and the rest of his squad and pushed his team all the way to the finals with his outstanding play.
Dino Mancinelli only stands in at 6-foot, 180 pounds, but if you see him in person his play certainly overshadows his lack of height. Recently the Cheshire Academy quarterback led his team with outstanding decision making and accuracy in the New Level Athletics 7-on-7 tournament and really turned some heads of people who didn’t know who he was.
“I’ve been hearing from Connecticut, Rutgers, Virginia, Boston College, Penn State and Syracuse the most recently,” Mancinelli said. “Most of the interest comes in the form of letters or the teams talking to my coach, however I have been getting a number of handwritten letters from Coach Joe Susan at Rutgers.”
“I went to Connecticut for junior day recently and it was really nice,” Mancinelli offered. “Their facilities are brand new and were absolutely ridiculous. The coaches were great and the new quarterbacks coach Joe Moorehead was a nice guy. I really enjoyed it up there.”
Mancinelli will fight and uphill battle because he’s short a few inches of what most schools are looking for, however he does have the talent to play at the Division I level. This summer he plans to attend camp at every school showing him interest to prove himself, something we think he’ll end up doing.
