The Scout.com Pre-season State Rankings for the Class of 2010 will be released through the end of this week. Today, state rankings for Arizona, Arkansas, Indiana, and New Jersey are unveiled.
The talent in "The Garden State" was bolstered by the addition of California native Chris Martin," says North regional manager Bob Lichtenfels. "Martin is a Notre Dame commit, along with No. 3 T.J. Clemmings (Paterson Catholic) who is headed to Pittsburgh, the state of New Jersey has two players who could play for anyone in the nation. Two receivers also find themselves in the top four of the state rankings Shakim Phillips (DePaul) and Bennett Jackson (Raritan). Jackson is also headed to South Bend." Lichtenfels also notes that one high school program also dominates the rankings. "The New Jersey rankings look a lot like the Don Bosco Prep rankings as seven Bosco players are in the Scout.com Top 35."
"Safety Marquis Flowers stands out as Arizona's top prospect. The versatile performer holds offers at a variety of positions including safety, outside linebacker and running back," said Jewell. "The offensive line class runs deep and guard Nick Rowland could make his case for the number one spot. Rowland is a big and physical presence inside that holds offers from much of the Pac 10. Tackle Kody Innes, center Blair Tushaus and guard Dylan Lusk are other top performers amongst the big men. "The class of prospects in Southern Arizona is very strong this year and Sabino's Keanu Nelson and Salpointe TE Sean Craig are the most coveted players. Nelson could play receiver, running back or corner."
"I really believe that the top six players in Indiana could play almost anywhere in the country," said Scout.com Midwest analyst Allen Trieu. "Beyond that, it always seems like the state has guys who come out of nowhere and end up at BCS conference schools. A few of those guys like Jack Denton, Cincinnati commit Cameron Beard and Indiana commitments Leneil Himes and Logan Young were not especially well known a month ago, but have shown their talents this summer."
"He may not play in the biggest classification, but he has the tools to be an elite back on the next level like he is now in high school," said Scout.com South manager Chad Simmons. "A few things that stand out about Dyer are his feet, his lateral movement, and his acceleration. He is constantly moving his feet, keeping them going, and he always has his body moving making it hard for defenses to wrap him up. He bounces side to side, makes guys miss, and stops and starts as well as anyone and when he gets the ball, he can get to top speed in a hurry.
