The Josh Jarboe era came to an abrupt end this afternoon after he was dismissed from the team for recording a controversial rap song that ended up being posted on the web.

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops announced Friday that he has dismissed freshman wide receiver Josh Jarboe from the team.

“We are disappointed in this outcome, but our complete review and this final decision is in the best interest of our program” Stoops said. “We outlined for Josh the expectations we had for him when he arrived and, unfortunately, those expectations have not been met. Josh needs to learn from this experience. We hope he can move forward in a positive manner.”

OU’s players are set to convene in Norman Sunday to begin drills for the 2008 season.
