| Biography: |
The son of former Washington State University and NFL standout James Hasty, JR finished his career at Bellevue as a starter on four-straight class 3A championships. Hasty finished 2004 with 2519 yards rushing and a state-record 50 touchdowns scored. He was named the AP 2004 State Player of the year, as well as the Seattle Times' 2004 State player of the year, 3A State MVP and the Seattle P-I's 2004 State offensive player of the year. He was an all KingCo 3A as a junior and senior. Also named to the 2003 Seattle Times 'Star Times' Offensive squad, in 2003, Hasty ran 230 times for 1955 yards and 25 touchdowns and was named a 2003 Tacoma News Tribune 'Nugget in Waiting'
Hasty: "I'm good at avoiding people. But if I have to, I feel I can go through them. I feel I have pretty good vision on the field."
Coach's Comments: "He has had by far and away the best season I've seen anybody have," said Bellevue coach Butch Goncharoff. "When we had the whole world hurt, and we needed somebody to step up and play, he played. That showed the world about his guts and his toughness and his character."
Scouting Report: He’s a shifty running back that runs well between the tackles. Might be hampered a bit at the next level because of the type of offense Bellevue runs (Wing-T), but Hasty shows an instinctual way of running, finding seams, and accelerating through lanes that you can't teach. A tough, durable back, JR is the one you count on for those hard three yards. Valuable outside the tackles too as a receiver. Could play either way in college, but will get his first shot at running back.
