| Biography: |
THE STATS: 46 tackles, three sacks, and eight tackles for loss. He only played approximately 1/3 of the defensive snaps, full time offense in '04. His team only allowed 8.2 points per game while scoring 25.3 points per game and had two shut outs during the year. The team had a total of 13 sacks for the year. Brookwood was ranked the No. 1 defensive team in 5A (highest classification) in Georgia high school football for the 2004 season. Brian was honored by PrepStar Magazine as an all-region pick and was tabbed for the Top Fab50 Defensive Linemen national list. He was also named first team all-county on defense. Named first-team all-Gwinnett County as a junior as well as one of the Fab 50’s top defensive linemen.
STRENGTH: If you ever had to walk onto a football field and wanted someone to make a play, Brian Truelove is the man. Scott Kennedy of Scout.com describes Truelove as one of the strongest players he saw in Georgia last season. He is a no-nonsense type of guy who is strictly team oriented. After committing to the Ducks last summer, he quickly considered himself a Duck despite living across the country. Brian comes from a family that has instilled in him strong core values.
WEAKNESS: Kennedy initially thought of Truelove as Division I offensive lineman prospect. His only downside seems to be the fact his high school team is a football program that is so team oriented that it was difficult to find comparative statistics.
PROJECTED POSITION: Defensive lineman.
WHY OREGON? "I just got off the phone with the Oregon Coaches," Truelove told Scout.com after he made his verbal commitment to the Ducks. "I decided to commit to them. I really liked everything about them. Talking with the coaches they were really great. The campus is beautiful. It has this big lake that runs through it and everything. Most all of the coaches that were there that I talked to had been there for more than 10 years. Coaching stability was one of the things I really looking for. I really like that. I liked all the facilities. They were just as good if not better than anyone else I had seen. I really felt comfortable while I was out there."
MIKE BELLOTTI:
"Very strong," said Bellotti of Truelove. "Reminds me of Robby Valenzuela."
