Biography:
In 2005, the Cactus High School Cobras were nothing short of dominant, and senior gun-slinger Jonathan Tobin was the team's emotional leader. Having led the Cobras to the state championship as a junior (and lost), Tobin and team were bent on showing the state that they were indeed the best, routing opponents by an average of 36 points per game and showcasing a defense that had held opponents scoreless for 15 straight quarters between Oct. 21 and November 19.

This season Tobin led the Cobras to a perfect 14-0 record and the Class 4A state title, winning in convincing fashion by a final score of 30-7 in the title game. His offense scored an average of 52 points per game (he was often done by the middle of the third quarter), and he threw for over 2,127 yards, 19 TDs, 12 INT, and completed 61% of his passes. He also rushed for 4 TDs, with a long of 70 yards. Among his many honors, he was named to the PrepAZ Class 4A Division-1 All State First Team.

Tobin lost a total of just 2 games during his junior and senior seasons, walking away with a 26-2 mark as the starter.

As a junior, Tobin was named to the All-Region team as he threw for 1,600 yards and 13 touchdowns. A two-way threat, he also rushed for 255 yards and 10 touchdowns. He finished the year with 11 interceptions and had a 42 percent completion rate, leading his team to the State Championship before falling.

Tobin: "I love being competitive. I hate to settle for second because if you do that, you have lost. My coach says I am a great leader. I love getting dirty out on the field. I always play hard."
