| McCarthy was all over the field as a junior, thanks to his instincts at the position. He can make plays from a number of positions on the field. His three picks showed off excellent cover skills. Like most LB's at this age, he can work to become a better tackler. He has a big time motor, too. |
| Biography: |
| McCarthy was outstanding as a junior last season. He finished the season with 163 total tackles on defense (118 solo and 45 assists), including 13 for a loss. He added four sacks, five interceptions, two caused fumbles, and one defensive touchdown. While playing wide receiver, he hauled in 32 passes for 595 yards and eight scores. He was a first team All-State pick after the season. He also averages 15 points in basketball. |
