| 2005 JR Season Notes: Antwine was named defensive lineman of the year for his league and was selected first team all-district. Garland also tabbed him as their top weightlifter on the squad.
Final JR (8-4) stats: 72 tackles/10 sacks; Bench: 375/Squat: 665/Power Clean: 305/Vert Jump: 31"
Senior season notes: Garland (8-2) hosts John Tyler (Tyler) in a playoff game on Nov. 12. "Most of our remaining games will be played on Saturdays," Antwine explained. "That's why I probably won't be able to take any more officials until after the season ends."
Antwine reports a 3.5 GPA/19 ACT.
Antwine: "I am smart and aggressive. The game moves in slow-motion for me. I know what is going to happen before it does."
"Before a game happens, I study a copy of the game film my coaches have made for me, and I study it all the time. It helps me get ahead on other peoples' game plans. I've got some great aggressiveness on the field also and it can get other teams scared of me at times too. It's probably because I'm such a big person.
"I'd like to work on getting my 40x down and use my hands a little more. It will be good to change the game up a little and really get my technique with my hands down."
Scouting Report: Scouting the Lone Star State for the top prospects is something we enjoy doing and in a down year for the state regarding DT prospects, you might pay attention to Garland DT Brandon Antwine. Kid has plenty of game and is currently rated No. 2, just behind Leslie Ray, as the Lone Star State's top pair of DTs in the 2006 class.
Brandon: "I am smart and aggressive. The game moves in slow-motion for me. I know what is going to happen before it does."
