| Nielson is a terrific athlete and he also plays fullback. He has great size and speed and is very raw at this stage, only playing the linebacker position full-time for one time. Nielsen flys to the football, is aggressive and physical and is a good tackler. He can play sideline to sideline and also fights off blocks well at the point of attack. Nielson is raw with tremendous upside. |

Nielsen ranks as one of the top defensive prospects in Iowa in 2006. He started as a strong safety as a sophmore, before moving to linebacker as a junior. He also receives time along the offensive line. He anchors his track team's 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 relay teams.
Coach's Comments: "Tyler is a selfless player," said head coach Greg Thomas. "I had to insert him on the offensive line to replace an injury, and he'll do anything to help his team win. He has only played one year at linebacker, but he reads things very quickly, and has great athletic ability." |
