Coaching Accomplishments
- 12 seasons of coaching experience.
- For five straight seasons, a wide receiver ranked among the top 20 nationally in catches per game. Under his guidance, the leading receiver on the squads have averaged to haul in nearly 80 passes a season (79.8).
- In 2005, helped junior Chad Jackson match the UF single-season reception record held by Carlos Alvarez (88 receptions). The total ranked sixth nationally and first in the SEC for the season and fourth all-time.
- Jackson and Baker finished first and seventh in the SEC in 2005 in receptions per game with 7.3 and 4.3, respectively and third and eight in the conference in receiving yards per game with 75.0 and 58.1. UF was one of only two schools to have two players finish in the top 10 in receptions per game and one of three to have two do so in receiving yards per game.
- For two straight seasons his position produced the bowl game MVP with Paris Warren (Utah, Fiesta Bowl, 2005) and Dallas Baker (Florida, Outback Bowl, 2006).
- Receivers became a part of the running aspect of the Florida offense in 2005 as the group carried the ball 26 times for 162 yards and three touchdowns. The Gator offense averaged 6.2 yards per play when a member of the unit was carrying the ball.
- Worked with an explosive Utah offense in 2004 that recorded 499.8 yards per game (No. 3 nationally), including 263.7 yards receiving (19th nationally) and an average of 14 yards per catch.
- Under his guidance, sophomore Steve Savoy and senior Paris Warren each earned All-Mountain West Conference recognition at wide receiver in 2004. Savoy (67 catches, 961 yards) had 11 touchdown receptions and averaged 80.1 yards per game and 14.3 per catch. Warren (80 catches, 1,076 yards) caught 12 touchdowns and averaged 13.4 yards per reception.
- Four different Utes totaled over 350 yards receiving during the squad's perfect 12-0 season: Paris Warren
(1,076), Steve Savoy (961), Travis LaTendresse (411) and John Madsen (377). Overall, Utah wide receivers scored 39 touchdowns in 2004.
- Worked with Paris Warren who set a Fiesta Bowl receptions record with 15 for 198 yards and two
touchdowns against Pittsburgh in January of 2005.
- Warren set a Ute single-season reception record with 80 catches in 2004 and also led the league in receptions per game (6.67), a total that ranked 17th in the nation.
- The Ute kickers were a perfect 7-for-7 in field goal attempts in 2004 and senior punter Matt Kovacevich was an honorable mention All-MWC pick after averaging 41.7 yards per kick. In 2004, the Utes led the league and ranked third nationally in net punting (40.8) and were tops among the MWC and fifth nationally in kick returns (26.2) after leading the country in the department in 2003 (28.2).
- During his first season as Utah's receivers coach in 2003, he inherited a receiving corps that had graduated its three top players from the previous campaign. Helped develop Paris Warren, playing for the first time in two years after transferring from Oregon, into a first-team All-Mountain West Conference receiver.
- Also coached Ben Moa, a first-team All-MWC tight end who trained with the receivers. In addition, freshman Steve Savoy was named an honorable mention Freshman All-American by College Football News.
