|
| Excellent in many areas of the game including coming off the ball, technique, hand quickness, great footwork, and a surprising natural bender for a guy his size. Can block for both technique and power. Can over-extend himself on a drive block, but normally shows a good base and quick feet. Great awareness of blitzes, sets up quickly in pass pro, smart in using his leverage, and strong hands. |
| Biography: |
| One of the nation's top tackle prospects, Patchan played through his junior season at Freedom High before transferring to Armwood. His father played at the University of Miami in the late '80s. He has freakish athletic ability for a player his size and was named the MVP of the Scout.com Combine in South Florida in March. Armwood coach Sean Callahan says he'll be the first Armwood player in over 10 years to start on both sides of the line this season.
Patchan finished his junior season with 99 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, eight sacks, four fumbles caused and four recovered. He graded out at 93% and had 54 pancakes without giving up a single sack; he benches 365 pounds, squats 475 and has a 34-inch vertical jump. Patchan says one of his goals is to play both ways in college. "But I'll probably start on offense and work my way toward defense," he said.
He reports a 3.4 core GPA and an 1190 SAT.
Patchan "I give more effort than anybody. You won't find anyone who gives more effort than I do. I think that's the main thing for me. I'm also very aggressive and relentless. I finish blocks well and on defense I have great hands and am quick off the ball.
"I hear that I'm the best player in the nation a lot, but I'm not perfect and am always trying to get better. I want to be the best player I can be and work on improving myself every day."
