| Long and athletic, Downs simply makes plays wherever he lines up. Is very rangy and excels in coverage. Uses length to be disruptive and forces QBs to make near-perfect throws. Needs to be more physical and adding weight will help. Is a viable threat as a WR and Return Specialist, which will give his next team more options. Will produce wherever he plays--Burke Hayes |

2008: Two pass completions from two attempts for 74 yards and one touchdown; 21 rushes for 107 yards and one touchdown; 68 receptions for 1,035 yards and 14 touchdowns; 15 total tackles with 13 solo; 10 punts for 397 yards-59 long and two inside the 20; 34 kick-offs for 1,906 yards and 11 touchbacks; four punt returns for 23 yards, seven kick returns for 128 yards.
Downs and his team were state championship runner-ups in a heartbreaking 7-6 overtime loss. The senior caught the team's lone touchdown pass. He was named FSWA All-State 3A WR, Press Register's Super Southeast 120 (#18)as a senior and was selected to the U.S. Army All-American Game.
A two way star at Godby High School, Downs started as a sophomore on both sides of the ball and returning kicks. |
