NOTES: Tobias Palmer burst on the scene in the 2005 when, as a sophomore, he had an amazing performance against 2A power Burlington (NC) Cummings.
The 6'0, 170-pound tailback rushed for a school-record 346 yards and three touchdowns. He scored on rushes of 60 yards, 90 yards, and 99 yards as he ran through the Cummings defense.
Palmer also added a 75-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and three catches for 85 yards, including a 70-yard score.
In the Northwood win, Palmer accounted for 506 total yards and five touchdowns, and local colleges started to take notice.
As a junior, Palmer led the area in rushing, as he tallied 1,500 yards and 31 all-purpose touchdowns, including 24 on the ground. He rushed for 1,543 yards and 22 touchdowns as a sophomore.
He received an early offer from NC State while also receiving heavy interest from North Carolina, Miami, Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Clemson among others.
COACH QUOTE: "He can take it to the house everytime he touches the football. I think he could play running back in college, if he can put on about 20 pounds. We don't use him there much, but he's the best defensive back we have on our team.
"His speed is his best attribute. Tobias isn't a 4.4 guy... try 4.2. He [had] been timed between 4.2 and 4.3 at some combines [last] summer." -- Northwood Head Coach Bill Hall
