| Newman is nimble and agile for a player his size. Newman moves exceptionally well and shows quickness and athletic ability moving down the line. He has a good first step, uses his hands well and shows good balance, especially when offensive linemen go low for his ankles. |
| Biography: |
| Junior Year (2006): Named a second-team all-state selection by the Courier-Journal.
Newman finished his junior season with 68 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, eight sacks, three blocked extra points and one blocked punt. He benches an impressive 365 pounds, squats 674 and has a 24-inch vertical jump.
He reports a 3.8 core GPA and an 18 ACT. He'll be taking the SAT later this summer.
Newman: "I feel like I'm explosive and have a great burst of speed. Also, I have good strength and power. I'm just a good athlete overall.
"I want to lose fat and gain muscle. My goal is to be between 285-290 pounds. I'm also working on my agility and movement."
