| As a 2007 junior, Wood scored 42 touchdowns, rushed for 2,612 yards on 178 carries and caught seven passes for 191 yards. He also played cornerback, recording 50 tackles and three interceptions and led Oxnard (Calif.) Santa Clara to the CIF-MidValley Division Title. Wood averaged 14.7 yards per carry and 200.9 yards per game. Was named the CIF Player of the Year and Ventura County Player of the Year.
Had a memorable sophomore season in 2006, highlighted by being named California State Sophomore Player of the Year and First Team All-State. Earned all-CIF First Team honors, All-Ventura County (Coaches and VC Star) and All-League.
Had 2,480 all-purpose yards, 1,407 coming on the ground (12.03 ypc) and 595 coming through the air (37.19 per catch). Scored 25 touchdowns (17 rushing, seven receiving and one a kick return).
