| Biography: |
A dedicated team player, Abe played strictly on defense but shifted as a junior to OG to accommodate team need. Considered an “under the radar” player due to missing five games as a junior in 2006 with a toe fracture (from roadwork training and missing combines due to off island State Track Championships).
2008 ILH Varsity Shot Put and Discus champion, and 2nd in both throwing events in the 2008 Hawaii State Track & Field Championships. Abe was a member of the ’07 & ’08 Punahou Varsity Boys consecutive, Hawaii Track & Field State Championship teams.
Cousins include SF 49'er Jesse Sapolu and Colorado’s Max Tuioti-Mariner. Abe's father was a UCLA Bruin outside linebacker in the 70's, and his grandfather was a USC running back in the 50's.
Abe is also highly regarded at Punahou as a vocal soloist in the Punahou Chorale, and as the Fa’aluma (traditional Samoan lead dancer/director) in the Punahou “Holoku” May Day presentation. Abe who was selected by his family in Savaii, Samoa to take the honored chiefly title of Seumanu, has also been honored by being asked by the National Coach to try out for the Manu Samoa (national rugby team), and be available for consideration to represent the Samoa National Track & Field team. Abe will compete at center at USC.
