| There isn't a more athletic linebacker prospect in the state of Florida this year than Telfort. He runs well, changes direction, can play in space. He really gets after it, too, and plays with a good understanding of how to play the position. Size, however, is a concern and bigger blockers can swallow him at times because of it. The kid can flat out run and make plays, though, and that's why he's being recruited the way he is. -- Mike Bakas |
| Biography: |
| Frankie Telfort did a little bit of everything for Coral Reef as a sophomore. He played linebacker and running back. He transferred to Gulliver Prep as a junior.
Junior season stats: Telfort missed half of his junior season because of a torn right thumb ligament, yet still managed to have 66 tackles, four fumbles caused and two fumbles recovered. He played the remainder of the season in a cast.
Senior season stats: Telfort recorded 163 tackles and four sacks. He was named First Team All-Dade County (Small School 1A-3A), Mobile Press Register Super Southeast 120, FSWA 2A First Team All-State.
He says he can bench press 285 pounds and squats 520. Telfort claims a 32-inch vertical jump.
Telfort reports a 3.3 core GPA and took the SAT in June. He's taking the ACT in September.
Telfort: "I have good speed, knowledge and explosiveness. A lot of people say I play like Ray Lewis and go crazy on the field sometimes. I'm also a good leader on the field.
"Even though I have good speed, you can never get fast enough. I want to improve my closing speed and work on taking better angles."
