A planned grayshirt expected to arrive in Corvallis in January of '10, Poyer was named both Offensive and Defensive Player of the year in the 4A class in Oregon in '08.
Some of his senior season numbers include: 23 passing touchdowns vs. 8 INT in 200 attempts, 39 rushing touchdowns, 2,200 yards passing, 1,800 yards rushing. Other honors and accolades: Cowapa League Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, first team all-league offense and defense. He led Astoria to the school’s first ever football state championship.
Also a serious baseball prospect. Being recruited by Oregon State, UCLA and many others for baseball.
