In his sophomore season, he shattered the previous school records for passing yards and touchdowns, throwing for 2,336 hashes and 29 TDs on 168-for-315 passing (53 percent). He had 14 interceptions and ran for another three scores.
Awards on his sophomore season included first team all-Cascade honors.
He was named the Everett Herald and WIAA/Seattle Times Player of the Week for his performances in weeks six and two, respectively. His final game of the season, he threw for 402 yards and 5 TDs.
As a freshman, Lane set the school season passing yardage record with 1,438 yards, with 13 TDs, as well as a then single game passing yardage with 305 yards through the air and 3 TD passes.
