Coffman Waits For Opening

Cameron Coffman

Missouri quarterback Cameron Coffman has it narrowed down to Toledo, Alabama and Arizona State. The Tide have not offered, but he says they're still recruiting him. "They're waiting to see if any scholarships open up," Coffman said. "They said they need to see who declares to the NFL and who transfers. Then I'll know." Coffman took an official visit to Arizona State on Nov. 13. "I like..."

Cameron Coffman, the 6-foot-2, 175-pound three-star quarterback from Raymore-Peculiar High School in Peculiar, Mo., says that recruiting has been quiet during the holidays and for good reason. "It was the dead period," Coffman said. "So I haven't really talked with anyone in a few weeks."

Coffman, ranked as the No. 39 quarterback in the country by Scout.com, still denies a leader but has it narrowed down to Toledo, Alabama and Arizona State. The Tide have not offered him, but he says they're still recruiting him.

"They're waiting to see if any scholarships open up," he said. "They said they need to see who declares to the NFL and who transfers. Then I'll know."

Coffman took an official visit to Arizona State on Nov. 13. "It's a great school," he said about the Sun Devils. "I like the offensive coordinator (Noel Mazzone) a lot. They run a great offense and are getting better."

He says he hopes to take an official trip to Toledo sometime this month.

"They run a great offense too," he said about the Rockets. "They have a young staff and they've been getting better. It's a great opportunity for me to come in and play."

Coffman also took an official trip to Wyoming on Oct. 15, but says the Cowboys are no longer in the picture. "They had a quarterback commit," he said. "So they're not in it anymore."

He says he'll probably wait until near signing day to decide.

"I'll wait," he said. "I'm still waiting to see what happens and where I want to go. If I knew that I'd already be committed."

Coffman finished his senior season (6-5) with 3,300 yards passing, 25 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He also rushed for 680 yards and eight touchdowns.

He reports a 3.4 GPA and a 23 ACT.
