Mike's Take: Vanderbilt OL commit
What to Like: Blake Fromang is a talented offensive lineman from Lake Highland Prep High in Orlando. The first thing that jumps out at you about Fromang is the rare size he has. At 6-foot-7 and 280 pounds, he's very large with long arms and a frame that will allow him to add another 40-50 pounds at the college level. He's young, too, so we're talking about a kid who could end up being in the 6-8, 330 range once he's a couple years into his college career. He's very smart and has a real good understanding of the game. That's a huge attribute for any offensive lineman. He's well coached, comes from a good prep program, and he has the work ethic to really take his game to another level once in college. What may concern you: Athletically, he's not going to blow anyone's mind. He plays tackle in high school and will likely fit in best in college as a right tackle. He could use some work on his footwork and just become a little more nimble on his feet. That's common for a kid his size, and at that age, though. He will also need to add strength and become stronger and more physical at the point of attack. Again, those things should come with age and time in a college weightroom. Bottom Line: Vanderbilt is getting one of the top offensive line prospects in central Florida. With BCS offers from schools like Cincinnati, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Ole Miss, NC State, USF, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia, Fromang was recruited like a solid three-star prospect. He's a very good addition to the Vandy recruiting class.
