Freshman forward says his team didn't start out as well as they could or should…
Nixon Getting Lots of Attention
2014 running back prospect, Shaun Nixon, out of Lake Travis High School (Austin, Texas) heard some good news today. Nixon has been talking with a number of schools including Clemson, who gave him his first offer last year, but today Nixon was given his first offer from an in-state school, Texas Tech. "It felt great to get an offer from Texas Tech," Nixon said. "I like Texas Tech because they run our style of offense. I talked to their running back coach (Chad Scott) and he's awesome. He's giving me great news about playing there maybe as a freshman or sophomore. I hope to hear more from Texas Tech." One thing that makes the Red Raiders appealing to Nixon is that one of his former teammates, Michael Brewer (Quarterback), now plays for Tech. Nixon also likes the similarities between Lake Travis' offense and Texas Tech's. "It's more like Lake Travis' style of play," Nixon said. "Brewer is there and said he likes it because of the style of offense. I would be able to fit in there since our offense is basically a spread offense. I still have to go visit the school, but just to have two offers is great. Now all the other schools that are interested in me will see what I'm about." Nixon is keeping his eyes open to all different schools at this point. The sophomore said he's talking with Major Applewhite (Offensive Coordinator) and Mack Brown (Head Coach). Nixon recently got back from visiting Texas' spring practice this weekend. "During the spring practice, I was able to meet coaches and see how much of a recruiting powerhouse they are," Nixon said. "I learned that they liked power-backs. They told me I am in the running to be the No. 1 running back in the 2014 class." Next up for Nixon is yet another Texas school, Texas A&M. The talented prospect plans to visit the Aggies April 30th. "I want to meet the coaches and see what type of guys they are," Nixon said. "I want to talk with the players and go around the campus to see if it's an environment I would like."
