Shane Morris: "I had a Chip on My Shoulder"
Shane Morris Profile “I came out here with an edge on my shoulder… a chip on my shoulder… knowing that I needed to do what I needed to do,” said Morris. “I went home after the Elite 11 in Dallas and worked my butt off every day, just training and learning things I need to do. They told me I need to work on consistency, accuracy, throwing a spiral, and not throwing 100 mph. That is something I felt I did today and something I have been working on. I’m proud of myself for that. But obviously I am not where I need to be. I need to keep working everyday and I’m never going to be satisfied.” Rivalry budding already? During the tryout Morris was pushed by Notre Dame commit Malik Zaire and Ohio State commit Jalin Marshall. Morris said he has a friendly competition with his future rivals. “Marshall and Malik they are awesome,” Morris said. “They are cool kids. Obviously we will be rivals for the next four years. They are awesome kids and they are great quarterbacks, and do great things for schools they are going to.” Headed West With his ticket booked for the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles, the future Wolverine signal caller said there is still work to be done. “Obviously I will never stop working. That is something I will never do. Just knowing that I am going to keep working on everything they told me to. Obviously today I was better, but I wasn’t’ where I need to be. That is just something I am going to take home. I’m going to keep working for the Elite 11 in California, and just go out there and ball out.” Staying Consistent After winning the MVP, Morris said his primary objective was to stay consistent on day two of the competition for Saturday’s combine. “Tomorrow I am just going to be working on the same thing. Just trying to improve myself better,” Morris said. “Tomorrow is going to be a prove myself day. I came out here today and did good. Can I do it two days in a row? That’s what they are going to be seeing-or test me on. I am going to come out tomorrow and prove that I can do it more than one day in a row. I am consistent with (throwing) now." According to Scout.com National Recruiting analyst Allen Trieu, Morris accomplished his mission. “Shane had another good day after (the Elite 11),” said Trieu. “Very consistent. I think in some of the other camps he threw the ball hard all the time. Here he put some touch on them, threw a more catchable ball.” “Maybe he took this one more seriously. He had a clear goal.” For the full video interview and more highlights from Morris’ performance, press play below. var VideoMediaID = "1065887" var VideoStillImageID = "1065127" var MediaDir = "http://video.scout.com/media/"; var VideoURL = MediaDir + "video/flv/" + parseInt( VideoMediaID / 10000 ) + "/" + VideoMediaID + ".flv"; var ImageURL = MediaDir + "image/" + parseInt( VideoStillImageID / 10000 ) + "/" + VideoStillImageID + ".jpg"; var so = new SWFObject ('http://cdn-cms.scout.com/swf/flvplayer.swf','mpl','440','360','8'); so.addParam ('allowscriptaccess','always'); so.addParam ('allowfullscreen','true'); so.addVariable ('height','360'); so.addVariable ('width','440'); so.addVariable ('file',VideoURL); so.addVariable ('image',ImageURL); so.addVariable ('backcolor','0x000000'); so.addVariable ('frontcolor','0xFFFFFF'); so.addVariable ('lightcolor','0x00FF00'); so.addVariable ('screencolor','0x000000'); so.addVariable ('logo','http://media.scout.com/media/a/_network/mediaplayer/scoutTVlogo.png'); so.addVariable ('showstop','true'); so.write ('player');
