Andrew Brown is one of the top prospects in the 2014 class. The future five-star defensive lineman played last season at Indian River High (Chesapeake, Va.), but has transferred to Oscar Smith High (Chesapeake, Va.), which has one of the top high school football teams in the country. The Tigers already had 14 returning starters, but the addition of Brown is huge. The 6-foot-5, 295-pound defensive lineman has close to 30 scholarship offers, with the most recent coming yesterday from Auburn.
Bayside High (Virginia Beach, Va.) safety Quin Blanding also picked up an offer from Auburn yesterday. Blanding is also one of the top prospects in the class of 2014. The offer from the Tigers gives him a total of 22.
2013 Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, Va.) defensive tackle Demetri McGill picked up offer No. 10 yesterday, while camping at Maryland. Look for the 6-foot-2, 295-pound defensive lineman to continue to add offers in the near future.
Audrex Harris has transferred from Princess Anne High (Virginia Beach, Va.) to Lake Taylor High (Norfolk, Va.) for his senior season. Harris, a 2013 prospect, already has an offer from James Madison. He is also attracting interest from Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, West Virginia, Virginia, Miami, and Marshall.
New Bern (N.C.) High running back Jachin Watkins committed to UNC-Charlotte on Tuesday. The 6-foot, 215-pound running back is the second player from New Bern to make his decision in the past week. Offensive lineman Christian Matau committed to East Carolina last Friday.
Davidson Day (David N.C.) wide receiver Evan Gates picked up his third offer recently from UNC-Charlotte. Gates also has offers from East Carolina and Appalachian State.
