Jesus Wilson is a recent commitment to Florida State and should be a nice slot receiver in Jimbo…
Wilson Finds Home With USA U-19 Team
With Wilson's Christopher Columbus coach Chris Merritt calling the plays, Wilson was bound to stand out, and he has, using his game-breaking speed and ability to play in space to torch defenses all week in practice. "Things are going really good," Wilson said. "Practice has been good. Us receivers are good. We're ready for Samoa. We're going to go hard. It's going to be a great game." "We want to win the gold medal, to go out there and play hard," Wilson said. And while Wilson has a connection to his high school coach as the offensive coordinator, he also has one to his wide receivers coach, former Florida State star and Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward. "It took a day or two for people to realize that it was him," Wilson said. "He got a little skinnier. He doesn't look like the same Charlie Ward. But we all look up to him so much. He teaches us to get better on and off the field." Wilson said he and Ward joked around about him heading to Florida State, but the solid nature of Wilson's commitment isn't a joking matter. "I have a great relationship with Coach [James] Coley and Coach [Jimbo] Fisher," Wilson said. "I wanted to stay close to home. But more than that, it felt like home." And while Wilson is halfway across the country from home, in Austin, Texas, his high school coach and Ward make sure he never feels far away. "I'm having a great time," Wilson said. "Everybody's picking up the offense well, and they're picking it up better every day. We just have to keep getting better." Wilson said that was his goal as well, before ending the conversation by giving a shout-out to his future home. "Go Noles!"
