Junior Athlete Likes Cincinnati
Junior all-around athlete Jack Walz is one of several talented underclassmen on the Lakewood st. Edward roster. Walz has played several positions, but more than likely projects as a safety at the next level. Walz, 6-foot, 195-pounds, has played wide receiver, quarterback, safety and linebacker, and is one of the more versatile athletes in the Ohio 2014 class. He is seeing recruiting interest increase, and recently visited Cincinnati. "It was great being at Cincinnati, and I liked it there a lot," Walz stated. "I was able to spend time with Coach (Roy) Manning, and he is a great guy. He recruits my area, and they were excited to see me there." "They didn't really specify what position they are recruiting me for, but I told them I felt I was best on defense," he added. "They've been in contact most of the year, and they invited me down every week. I really like the program, and hope to get to know the new coaching staff. I was also invited to games at Georgia Tech, Virginia, West Virginia and Missouri." St. Edward had another fine season in 2012, and Walz (6-foot, 195-pounds) was a key contributor at several positions. "Things went great this year and I played wherever they needed me," he explained. "I tried to make big plays on both sides of the football. I'm a sure tackler and I know how to get people lined up in the right spot. I played a hybrid linebacker/safety this year, and I played slot receiver and wildcat quarterback."
