Morris Has "Something To Prove"
Warren (MI) De La Salle quarterback Shane Morris has been one of the more watched performers this week in Orlando at the Under Armour practices. Morris, 6-foot-3, 200-pounds, has thrown the ball well so far, and is enjoying his experience in Orlando. "This event is great, but at the end of the day it's all about playing football," Morris stated. "This is what every player here loves to do. My performance was better on Tuesday, and I felt I got a lot of the rust off from not playing in a while. I came out with a purpose today, and I came in here having not played much this year because I had mono." "People keep knocking me and moving me down in rankings, and that's fine, but I'm here looking to prove I can still play football," he added. "Mono didn't hurt me that bad, and I'm here to show everyone that I'm back and ready to go. The intensity was up on the second day, and a lot of players stepped up today." As one of the more popular players in the Michigan recruiting class, Morris has been a catalyst in helping lead other top prospects to Ann Arbor. "I'm not here doing the recruiting thing anymore, and I'm here to have a good time with my future teammates and have fun," he stated. "We already have a great class and we will add a few more before Signing Day. Obviously, if there's someone here the Michigan coaches are after, I'm going to be talking to them." "I'm really just looking forward to getting to Michigan next summer and getting the next phase of my career started," he continued. "I'm looking to add weight and keep training to get better. I want to report at 215-pounds, and see where that takes me." With Devin Gardner returning next year for the Wolverines the quarterback spot seems to be in good hands, and Morris is just looking to fit in. "Obviously, I don't have expectations of starting," Morris admitted. "But, I'm going to go in and compete and push Gardner to be the best he can be. I'm the type of player that always comes out to play as hard as I can, and I never like to lose." "The main thing for me is that I'm a leader, and the type of person that gets along with everyone," he continued. "People tend to follow what I'm saying, and I think that's what you want out of your quarterback."
