Weighing his options
DE Andrew Williams Profile The Eagles Landing Christian Academy [McDonough, Ga.] junior received his Clemson offer during the spring of his freshman year. Clemson defensive ends coach Marion Hobby, who extended the offer, continues to serve as Williams' primary recruiter for the Tigers. "It's really cool. My first offer, he's been there since ninth grade. We've built a major bond," Williams told CUTigers before the third annual Georgia Junior Bowl. "He's a good role model. He's just been there the entire way, he never left." Williams believes Hobby and Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney have taken a "personal interest" in him. Plus, with Clemson being his first offer, there's a lot about the Tigers that stands out to Williams. "Just showing the personal interest and the family love that they show me, it's pretty cool," Williams said. The No. 24 defensive end in the class of 2014 has just a shade under 30 offers. Two-time national champion Alabama was among the most recent. "That was wild. It was cool to see that Bama thinks I could play up there with them. To see that opportunity, it was cool," Williams said. He'll narrow his list down to a more manageable number, either five or seven schools sometime within the next few weeks. A commitment will be made before his senior season. What will be considered? "Defensive scheme, some of the offers want me at outside linebacker, so that would play a huge part in how I feel about that. Defensive scheme and coaching will play a big part of that." As a junior, Williams had 70 tackles, 18 sacks and 10 tackles for loss.
