In-state expectations as LOI Day draws near


UNEXPECTED diamonds-in-the-rough notwithstanding, the forecast right now is that 17 high school seniors from the state of Washington will ink letters of intent with major-conference schools come national signing day on Feb. 6, with Washington State taking six of them. The 17 tally is down from 23 a year ago, but on par with most recent years.

Of the projected 17, 15 have made verbal commitments, leaving only Bellevue linebacker Myles Jack and O'Dea receiver/cornerback Tatum Taylor in the undecided ranks. Jack has given a soft verbal to UCLA but is still considering Oregon, Arizona State and Washington. Taylor appears to be down to Oregon State for football or Arizona State for track.
