West: Final Top Ten Tight Ends
West: Final Top Ten Tight Ends 1. Marcus Baugh Location: Riverside, Calif. High School: J.W. North Size: 6-4, 225 Recruiting: Committed to Ohio State The Skinny: Baugh is an incredible athlete on both sides of the ball. He can run, he can catch, and he can chuck defenders trying to jam him. He's a physical presence who's gotten bigger and stronger to already go with his hands and speed. Baugh was selected to the UnderArmour All-America Game. 2. Thomas Duarte Location: Santa Ana, Calif. High School: Mater Dei Size: 6-4/225 Recruiting: Committed to UCLA The Skinny: Duarte is a big receiver that will be an insider receiver in college. He's a natural pass catcher with great hands and he uses his body very well. Had a big senior season on both sides of the ball en route to all-state honors and was selected to the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl. 3. John Mundt Location: Modesto, Calif. High School: Central Catholic Size: 6-4/225 Recruiting: Committed to Oregon The Skinny: Mundt had a great senior year, at both tight end and defensive end, helping his school win their first ever CIF State Championship. He was selected to the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl. 4. Danny Mattingly Location: Spokene, Wash. High School: Mead Size: 6-6/225 Recruiting: Committed to Oregon The Skinny: Mattingly can play on either side of the ball, either as an outside linebacker or tight end. While he will likely play linebacker in college, we feel his best position is at tight end. He was picked to the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl. 5. Austin Hooper Location: Concord, Calif. High School: De La Salle Size: 6-4/247 Recruiting: Committed to Stanford The Skinny: Hooper, like Mattingly, was recruited to play on both sides of the ball, with most of his offers coming at defensive end, where he starred this season in leading the Spartans to their fourth straight CIF State title. But Stanford, who's had a nice run of tight ends, likes Hooper on offense and he picked the Cardinal knowing that offense is where his future is. Hooper was selected to the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl. The Next Five: 6. Eric Cotton (Nampa, Idaho)- Committed to Stanford 7. Mitch Parsons (Parker, Colo.)- Committed to Vanderbilt 8. Chauntez Jackson (Inglewood, Calif.)- Committed to Houston 9. Harrison Handley (Sandy, Utah)- Committed to Utah 10.
