Mayomi Olootu & Christian Sam

LANCASTER, Texas -- On Sunday, at Lancaster High over 100 of the DFW area's top Class of 2014 football prospects gathered to compete in Next Level Athlete Top 100 Video Showcase.

"It was an impressive collection of talent," said Next Level Athlete founder Justin Simons. "As good as we have ever had for one of our events. I continue to be amazed at the type of talent these young players possess."

MVP awards were handed out to the top player in each of the six position groupings. Allen High, the 2012 Class 5A-D1 State Champions, led the charge by having two of its players earn accolades.

QB MVP - Payne Sullins
The 6'1, 170-pounder from Waco (Texas) Reicher High showed a high level of comprehension and coachability to go along with a solid performance in the one-on-one portion of the event. He is very accurate.

RB MVP - Ramon "Zai" Harris
The 5'7, 171-pounder from Frisco (Texas) Lone Star High was not the biggest prospect in attendance, but was one of the more athletic. He showed quick feet and good hands. He was so quick in space that linebackers struggled to cover him.

The 5'7.5, 158-pounder from Garland (Texas) Naaman Forest was a ball of electricity out on the field. He was explosive and quick in and out of his breaks making it tough for the defensive backs to slow him down. He made all of the catches look easy.

The 6'2.5, 286-pounder from Argyle (Texas) Liberty Christian was very technically sound and that clearly helped him in all of the drills and as well as the spirited one-on-one competitions where he was able lock down all comers.

DL MVP - Mychealon "Mych" Thomas
The 6'1, 312-pound behemoth from Dallas (Texas) Skyline High manhandled offensive linemen throughout the course of the day. He used his hands well and exhibited a size/speed combo that made him nearly unblockable.

LB MVP - Christian Sam
The 6'0.5, 205-pound linebacker from Allen (Texas) High was one of the leaders on the field for the 5A State Champs and it was that leadership and top-shelf skill that helped him secure the MVP award. He passes the eye ball test and could hang with the quickest backs in coverage.

DB MVP - Mayomi Olootu
The 5'8.5, 169-pounder from Allen (Texas) High was fleet of foot and tested well in all of the drills. He lauded by his position coaches as having the best feet and hips of the talented group of defensive backs and made a couple of highlight worthy stops in one-on-one.

Portions of the event will be seen on The Next Level Athlete on FOX Sports Southwest.
