Two waiting at Lincoln

Taj Williams

Two 2013 standouts from Tallahassee Lincoln are waiting on their academics in four-star wide receiver Taj Williams and three-star linebacker James Hearns.

There are two Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln standouts still on the board who have yet to sign in four-star wide receiver Taj Williams and three-star linebacker James Hearns. They are waiting to clear some academics hurdles, according to his head coach Yusuf Shakir.

"They are both working towards qualifying," Shakir said. They both have a shot. I don't see why they wouldn't eventually qualify. It's work but it's within reach for both of them."

Williams is waiting on a test score. He took the ACT this past Saturday. For Hearns it could be a little longer, as he has school work to make up and get completed.

"There are some schools that are waiting on them," Shakir said. "For Taj it's Auburn and Louisville. For James it's Kentucky and South Florida.

"Times have changed and it's harder for these teams to sign and wait to see if a kid will make it. They can't take that chance anymore."

Williams, 6-foot-3 and 195-pounds, is the No. 42 ranked receiver but he's also a very good cornerback prospect with elite size. Hearns, 6-foot-4 and 230-pounds, is a massive middle linebacker ranked No. 43 in the county at that position.
