First Offer Gives Hart Momentum
Germantown (Philadelphia) athlete Delane Hart took a return visit to Rutgers for the spring game last week and left feeling confident about the program. Hart does not have an offer from Rutgers coach Kyle Flood, but received one recently from Buffalo and will camp in Piscataway, N.J., this summer to showcase himself. "So far I really like Rutgers," Hart said. "The coaches are great, really funny. They are always talking to me and showing me a lot of love in recruiting." A 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect, Hart projects as a wide receiver but could grow into a tight end role with his frame and athleticism. He will camp at both Rutgers and Temple as a wide receiver. "I wouldn't go to a camp if I didn't think I'd have a chance at them offered me," Hart said. "If I go to Rutgers and Temple, it's because they said they want to offer me and see what I can do." Now a two-time visitor to Rutgers, Hart said he feels a comfort level with the staff that he did not see on visits elsewhere. "Rutgers is one of my favorite places to visit," Hart said. "When I'm there with [my teammates], they show us more love than any of the other prospects there. It's a great coaching staff." Buffalo was the first program to offer Hart. Since receiving the offer, more than a dozen schools expressed interest in seeing him this spring. Miami, Florida, Delaware State and Old Dominion already stopped by Germantown with Rutgers, Tulane and Temple expected soon, he said. "The first offer is really important to me," Hart said. "I feel like I was waiting and waiting and a weight was lifted. I got the first offer and more should come." Buffalo is recruiting Hart exclusively as a wide receiver. "They really like me there," Hart said. "They feel that I can come in and maybe start early. I can be a real threat for their team."
