USAAAB: Dyshon Sims
Georgia commit Dyshon Sims was the Bulldog commit we saw the least of last week in San Antonio at the United States Army All-American Bowl. Sims hurt his knee and missed most of the practice reps. "I got hurt at the first practice, and I had a problem with my kneecap where it shifted out of place," Sims stated. "It caused a lot of inflammation and they don't want me to practice at all, but I want to keep trying it to see how it goes." "It didn't work out for me at all to practice, but I'm going to do what I can to play in the game, even though that is very doubtful," he added. "I came here to play football and if I can go, I'm going to play. I'm going to rehab the best I can to be out there." Sims (6-foot-4, 275-pounds) is using his time in San Antonio to get better as a player, and bond with his fellow Georgia commits. The Bulldogs have six commits in the game. "It's always important to take the field looking to get better, but at the same time this is a reward for our high school careers," he stressed. "I'm having fun with this, but I'm trying to get better too. These guys are so talented that they will make you look real bad if you aren't at your best." Being in San Antonio with the other Georgia commits has left quite an impression on Sims. "It's awesome being with the guys and we are bonding like a family," Sims admitted. "When we get to Georgia we will be spending four years together, so this is a great way to get these friendships started early." "Georgia was the right school for me because I come from a small town, but once I saw Athens I knew that was home," he said. "The coaching staff are all great guys and I just knew that was the place for me. I also have family in the area, and Georgia was the team I rooted for all my life, so it's a dream come true." Because he was such a great person to speak with and showed so much desire to play, it was disappointing to not be able to see more of Sims in action. He certainly passes the look test and has the frame to add more weight and bulk.
