Commitment Capsule: Frank Ragnow
Committed to: Frank Ragnow profile 6-5 | 285 Guard Chanhassen (Minn.) Video Highlights His Recruiting Story: When we first met Frank Ragnow in July before his junior year, he was coming out of a sophomore year in which he came up to varsity and played both ways for Chanhassen. He was also readying for Minnesota's camp. He would attend that camp and earned an offer from the Gophers. That would remain his only offer until the spring following his junior season when Florida State joined in. Nearly two months after that Seminole offer is when the floodates opened up. Missouri, Pittsburgh and Nebraska offered within the span of four days. By the time summer came around, he was over ten offers. During his senior season, Miami (Fl.), Ohio State and others would come through. After taking official visits to Arkansas, Minnesota and Florida State, he announced his commitment to Arkansas at a ceremony at his school just five days before Signing Day. Where We've Seen Him: Adidas Invitational (2013), NFTC Chicago (2013), vs. Waconia (2013), Highlight Films (2011, 2012, 2013) Scouting Report: After seeing Ragnow play a full game in person this fall, we upgraded him to a four-star and moved him to guard. A high school offensive tackle, we felt his toughness would be a good fit inside and he was built more like an inside guy. Plus, with his athleticism, his ability to pull and play in the second level would be an asset there. Now we learn that Arkansas wants him to play center. While he has not played the position, we believe the same skills that had him projected as a future stalwart at guard translate to center as well. We thought he improved a lot as a senior too. He got stronger, but retained his feet and movement. He gets off the ball well, is a good drive blocker and finishes his blocks. He's a kid who never left the field in high school. He even long-snapped for punts and ran down to cover the kicks. When we saw him in a camp situation, he admittedly had not done much of what they were asking him to do. He will, as a result, have to continue to work on his pass set while adjusting to playing center. However, we believe he has the size, strength, athleticism and also the toughness and work ethic to make the most of that move. Commitment Comments: "The SEC, Coach Pittman and Coach Bielema's track record and the ability to contribute to the team early and the comfort, not only with the staff but with the players, I just loved it. It feels right for me." Overall: The Razorbacks really did a great job recruiting Ragnow. They were at his school every opportunity they could be there and made him feel wanted.
