Cyclones the Favorite for In-State Lineman
Iowa State offered in-state offensive lineman Julian Good-Jones on his visit to Ames this weekend, his first offer of the process. "It was a good feeling it being a D1, Big 12 school. I felt good about that being my first offer. It meant a lot to me," he said. The junior day visit allowed him to speak with the staff further including head coach Paul Rhoads. "We were about to go over and get lunch when Coach Rhoads pulled me aside, took me into his office and talked about the Cyclone-Hawkeye rivalry, how many fans there are of each and talked about my team's O-line. He said he likes what I do on the field and offered me a scholarship." While this was his first offer, the Cyclones will have other schools to compete with for the 6-foot-5, 270-pound prospect. "I recently got an email about a spring practice invite from Minnesota and I'll probably head up there in April. I've been hearing from North Dakota State and Wyoming, and I get letters from Iowa but not anything handwritten." Even if other offers come though, the Cyclones have established an early lead. "It means a lot that they showed interest first and consider me a priority. I think that they're my favorite right now, so I'll have them in mind a lot through the process."
