Chatman Talks First Offer
It seems like he has been waiting for some time to get the good news. Last Friday it came for Humble (Tex.) Summer Creek running back DeUnte Chatman. "I just got my first offer last Friday from Illinois State. It's such a relief to get the first one," Chatman said. "It feels great and I am looking forward to many more (offers)." Now that the first one is in for the 6-foot, 220-pound Chatman, it's back to business as usual, which includes getting his body right this off season. As for more offers, Chatman mentioned that Nevada, Vanderbilt, Iowa State and Texas are some of the programs that are looking at him, though many more will likely emerge this spring. So far the latter on that list is the only program that has gotten a visit this offseason. Chatman made his way to Austin, Tex. to take in the Longhorn program. "It was a great. It definitely had a different feel from the sophomore day I went to last year," Chatman said. "I got to see the campus and we talked a lot about the academics. It was an overall great experience." At the moment, Chatman has not scheduled any other visit, though he did say that this spring he does want to take more visits. Chatman said that many of the coaches recruiting him like his power style of running. "They (college coaches) say when they watch my video they see a lot of power and strength," Chatman said. Last season he finished with 71 carries for 620 yards and 12 touchdowns.
