Irish target Bayou slot wide receiver
Notre Dame offered four-star wide receiver Derrick Dillon of Franklinton (La.) Pine on Tuesday night. Dillon hooked up with Bayou area recruiter and Irish assistant Kerry Cooks to get word of the Irish offer. "We talked yesterday on Twitter," Dillon said. "And, then I called him tonight, and he told me that Notre Dame was offering." Dillon plays quarterback and defensive back, but he says Notre Dame will recruit him to play slot wide receiver. "Coach Cooks said he really likes my game and Notre Dame is going to recruit me hard," Dillon said. "He told me how Notre Dame is a private school and has like 13,00 students. He talked a little about the history and tradition of the school." Dillon, who had over 2,800 yards of total offense and 34 touchdowns in 2013, as well as three interceptions and a defensive touchdown, has picked up recent offers from Arizona State, Florida State, Texas A&M and UCLA in addition to Notre Dame. "I've been getting quite a few offers recently, so it's been a lot going on," Dillon said. "I definitely don't have favorites." Dillon has taken visits this spring thus far to Florida, Florida State, LSU and Texas A&M. "I'd like to visit Notre Dame because I've heard great things about the school," Dillon said. "But, I don't have any future plans or anything. I guess we'll see how this summer goes, and then maybe I'll visit then or maybe the fall." The 5-foot-11, 165- pound athlete is looking for a certain degree of comfort level at the next level. "I want a place that seems like home," Dillon said. "A place that treats me like family." Dillon is a four-star prospect and is ranked as the No. 35 wide receiver in the class of 2015.
