2016 OG Waddell Shows Potential
Tallahassee (Fla.) Leon High School has several class of 2015 prospects on its roster including junior quarterback/athlete D'Anfernee McGriff. Leon head football coach Tim Cokely thinks he has several young offensive linemen who will clear the way for McGriff this fall that will themselves warrant attention from FCS and FBS programs over the next two seasons. One of those lineman is 6-foot-2 and 307-pound class of 2016 offensive guard prospect William Waddell. "This year I think Will is going to have a great year. He will be our pulling guard. His dad (Leon offensive line coach Doug Waddell) played at Nebraska at the same size. It is yet to be seen but he has gained a lot in his athleticism this off-season," began Coach Cokely of Waddell who started last season as a sophomore. Coach Cokely believes that Waddell has shown the potential to be a FBS-caliber recruit for a program that is run-oriented. "I think a place like Georgia Tech or Air Force is a good fit for Will. He is a guy that can do academically and he is a forward leaning, run-blocking, movement type guy. He is a kid that is smart enough to do the work at an upper-tier academic school that might require a 3.0 grade point average and an 1,000 on the SAT," said Coach Cokely of the sophomore's potential. While it is still very early in Waddell's recruitment, he has already started to receive mail from Cincinnati. Please check back with Scout.com for future updates on William Waddell.
