Gainesville (Fla.) Buchholz High School class of 2015 wide receiver/defensive back Naquan Howard…
Howard up to five offers
Naquan Howard has actually been in somewhat of a state of disbelief since the injury. A spring where he was ready to showcase his skills for college coaches was derailed. But with quality film and great size for a guy with his athletic ability, some colleges have laid out the offers that he has coveted. "It is really exciting," Howard said of all the attention despite being hurt. "When I first got injured, the first thing I thought of was that I wasn't going to get any offers. Then I started to get offers and it was really exciting and surprising. I am just ready for summer and camps and stuff. "I think it is a combination of my film and my size. My coaches tell them I am a good kid and I keep in contact when they show interest. I know some guys that messed up during their process because they didn't keep contact with the coaches that were showing interest." This week Tennessee State and Idaho came by the school and offered. They were the fourth and fifth offer so far this spring. The coaches all say about the same thing in terms of what they like. "Tennessee State talked to my coach," Howard said. "They said they like my film and like me playing corner. They said my film is interesting to watch and I could be an immediate impact if I come there." Former Florida Gator star linebacker Bam Hardmon is the assistant coach at Idaho in charge of recruiting the Gainesville area and he and the rest of the Vandals' staff really like what they see in Howard. "I talked to the coach on the phone," he said of Hardmon. "He saw my film and really liked my film. They like what they saw and think I can be an immediate impact with the program. They told me about the facilities and want me to get up there and see them." The offers are rolling right along and now other programs are ready to get him on campus at camps so that he can actually show them in person what he can do. Howard plans on making it to some of those camps. "UCF really likes me," Howard said. "I talk to them all the time. I am going to take a visit there the week after school is out. I talk to Coach Wulff at South Florida and they really like me too. I also talk to the coach at Rutgers. They want me to come to a camp they have in Florida."
