Iowa State is the first to extend an offer to in-state offensive lineman Jake Heinrich of Urbandale…
Heinrich checks out Lincoln
Urbandale (Iowa) is one of the top high schools in Iowa for developing D-I talent. 2016 offensive lineman Jake Heinrich, 6-foot-4 and 275-pounds, is the next in line. Heinrich was in Lincoln on Saturday to check out Big Red Weekend at Nebraska. "It was a long day," Heinrich said, "but, it was really nice. Looking back the one thing that stood out to me was the weight room and training facility. "The Ndamukong Suh Center was great! I really liked hanging out and talking to all of the coaches all day." Later on in the visit the recruits got a chance to break out into their positions. The position coaches and some of the current players did a bit of a Q&A which all of the recruits thought was helpful including Heinrich. "The position coach meeting was special. We went into the meeting room with a white board, Coach John Garrison and Desmond Bland. A few players joined us a little later. "Coach Garrison told us about how there isn't a better support system for players anywhere else. The players said the same and said that they feel like Coach Garrison is a little like their father away from home." Heinrich is looking for an offer for Nebraska and it might find his way to him. To get it he will likely have to perform well at camp the days following Big Red Weekend. "I don't have an offer from Nebraska," Heinrich said. "We didn't talk much about one either. I will be here Sunday through Tuesday for a three day camp after Big Red Weekend." The Urbandale standout had never been to Lincoln prior to this weekend. He knows that this weekend was one of the first in a long list of others that will come, but still the Huskers managed to really impress the 2016 offensive lineman. "This was my first time at Nebraska and in terms of expectations this is just the beginning of my process. But, Nebraska's atmosphere, town and facilities were all great."
