Tiassum To Irish

Tiassum To Irish

It was another good day for Notre Dame football as they added defensive tackle Brandon Tiassum to their 2015 recruiting class.

The 6'5, 265 pound player from Park Tudor HS in Indianapolis committed to the Irish after visiting the campus and was delighted to finally end the arduous recruiting process.

"I was tired of all the recruiting trips and so was my mother," Tiassum said. "It is expensive to travel around to all these schools so she said ‘if you want to go to Notre Dame, make a decision' and I decided to pull the trigger."

Tiassum said the biggest factors in his decision were the proximity to his family and academics.

"Going to Notre Dame means my family can come and see me and my games regularly," Tiassum said. "There aren't any football schools better than Notre Dame for academics. Usually you have to go to Harvard or MIT to get that kind of quality."

Throughout the recruiting process the Notre Dame coaches talked about how Tiassum might fit into their defence and the defensive tackle is looking forward to playing in a 4-3 system.

"Coach (Mike) Elston has been in regular contact with me in the last few months about the defense." Tiassum said. "It is perfect for me that they play a 4-3 defence because I play the three technique well."

While academics was important for Tiassum in making his decision, he is still relishing the opportunity to join a historic program. "I can't wait to get a taste of that rich Irish tradition," Tiassum said. "It will be great when I meet my teammates and become a part of the Notre Dame fraternity."
